Dali på MOMA i New York
USA har länge varit ett resmål för konstälskare. New York med Museum of Modern Art , Guggenheim och Metropolitan Museum, San Francisco med San Francisco Museum of Modern Art , Chicago med sitt Art Institute of Chicago , Boston Museum of Fine Arts och Philadelphia Museum of Artför att bara nämna några av de främsta.
När vi först kom till USA så bodde vi i Princeton strax utanför New York och vi brukade ofta resa in till storstan och vandra på Fifth Avenue och besöka MOMA och Metropolitan.
Dali på MOMA
Även om jag föredrar San Francisco så saknar jag MOMA och saknaden blir akut när jag nu ser att MOMA visar en måste-se utställning om en av mina absoluta favoriter, Salvador Dali.
Vi såg en paradutställning om honom på Centre Pompidou för många år sedan och intressant nog var det min konstintresserade pappa som först gjorde att jag fick upp ögonen för Dali.
Den nuvarande utställningen heter DalÃ: Painting and Film och om alla filmälskare inser betyder det att vi fÃ¥r se Dalis samarbete med Luis Buñuel pÃ¥ Un Chien andalou och L’Age d’Or, med Alfred Hitchcock pÃ¥ Spellbound och t.om. med Walt Disney.

DalÃÂ: Painting and Film Bringing together more than 130 paintings, drawings, scenarios, and films by Salvador Dalà (1904–1989), this exhibition explores the role that cinema played in the artist’s work.Both an inspiration and an outlet for experimentation, film was DalÃ’s passion, and cinematic vision became a model for his own work.

In this revision of DalÒs career, film was crucial to his evolution as a painter. The camera’s merciless glass eye and the film editor’s narrative fecundity opened up a dreamlike world of permanent metamorphosis and helped the juvenile rebel to dissolve traditional art categories. “I am superficial,” he wrote in 1927, “and the outside of things is what delights me, for in the last analysis the outside of things is the objective.” The exhibition opens with a moody portrait of his countryman and soon-to-be partner in cinematic crime, the writer-director Luis Buñuel. Painted in 1924, when Dalàwas only 20, it demonstrates his lovely touch and prodigious sense of sculptural form. But it is also a poignant reminder of perhaps the most important artistic friendship he ever enjoyed, and how short-lived it was.
Film och måleri, två konstformer som nu digitaliseras och som i framtiden mer och mer kommer att smälta samman. Vad som gör Dalis arbete inom filmen så intressant är att det skedde långt före digitaliseringen.
En mycket intrressant utställning.
